Restorix Health, Inc. is a healthcare company based in Louisiana that develops and manages outpatient wound care centers in collaboration with hospitals and healthcare facilities across the region.
On May 30th, 2024, Restorix Health discovered a cybersecurity breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and health-related information of current and former employees, as well as patients of its partners. Notification letters were sent to affected individuals on February 14th, 2025.
Beacon Health System, a healthcare organization headquartered in South Bend, IN, recently posted a notice on its website informing employees and patients that their information may have been impacted by the Restorix data breach.
Restorix Health has disclosed that 38,553 individuals were impacted by the breach. The compromised data includes names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, government identification numbers, passport numbers, Social Security numbers, patient ID numbers, medical and prescription information, dates of service, conditions, treatments or diagnoses, certificate and/or license numbers, and health insurance details.
The recent Restorix Health data breach is a serious matter that could inflict far-reaching consequences for those affected. The exposure of personally identifiable information, especially names and Social Security numbers, poses a significant risk of identity theft, such as criminals opening financial accounts, taking out loans, filing fraudulent tax returns, and obtaining government services in the victim’s name. Personally identifiable information can also be exposed on the Dark Web, which poses a serious threat toward the privacy and safety of many individuals. According to a recent FTC survey, the total cost of identity theft is nearly $50 billion per year, with victims losing an average of nearly $5,000 from the misuse of their personal and financial information. The exposure of protected medical information can pose an even greater danger of identity theft—such as obtaining medical services in the victim’s name, which will be charged to the victim.
Current and former employees, along with patients of Restorix Health’s partners, may be at an increased risk of fraud and identity theft and should closely monitor their financial accounts. You could be at risk of incurring additional out-of-pocket costs for purchasing credit monitoring services, credit freezes, credit reports, or other protective measures to deter and detect identity theft.
