Fortive Corporation, an American technology conglomerate based in Everett, Washington, specializes in providing connected workflow solutions, designing, developing, and distributing professional and engineered products, software, and services.

In October 2023, Fortive Corporation discovered two cybersecurity breaches that took place between January 25, 2023, and November 6, 2023. These breaches involved unauthorized third-party access to network environments containing data from 20 of Fortive’s subsidiaries. The impacted entities include: Accruent, Advanced Sterilization Products, Censis Technologies, Fluke Corp, Industrial Scientific Corporation, Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company, Setra Systems, The Gordian Group, FTV Employment Services, Dover Motion, Anderson Instrument Co., Dynapar Corporation, Fluke Biomedical, Global Physics Solutions, Intelex Technologies US, Provation Software, Qualitrol Company, ServiceChannel.com, Inc, Tektronix, Inc, and Janos Technology

The cyber security incidents compromised sensitive personal, financial, and health-related information of current and former employees, customers, and patients of Fortive Corporation and its subsidiaries. Affected individuals began receiving notification letters on September 30, 2024.

While the total number of individuals affected by the Fortive Corporation data breach has not yet been disclosed, the compromised information includes dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state-issued ID numbers, passport numbers, birth certificate numbers, financial account details, credit/debit card numbers, and health insurance information.

Fortive Corporation’s recent data breach is a serious matter that could inflict far-reaching consequences for those affected. The exposure of personally identifiable information, especially names and Social Security numbers, poses a significant risk of identity theft, such as criminals opening financial accounts, taking out loans, filing fraudulent tax returns, and obtaining government services in the victim’s name. Personally identifiable information can also be exposed on the Dark Web, which poses a serious threat toward the privacy and safety of many individuals. According to a recent FTC survey, the total cost of identity theft is nearly $50 billion per year, with victims losing an average of nearly $5,000 from the misuse of their personal and financial information. The exposure of protected medical information can pose an even greater danger of identity theft—such as obtaining medical services in the victim’s name, which will be charged to the victim.

Current and former customers, patients and employees of Fortive Corporation and its subsidiaries have been exposed to a heightened risk of fraud and identity theft and must now closely monitor your financial accounts. You could be at risk of incurring additional out-of-pocket costs for purchasing credit monitoring services, credit freezes, credit reports, or other protective measures to deter and detect identity theft.
