Bryan Clobes has been a litigation partner with the firm since six months after its inception in 1992 and is resident in its Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Office.

Mr. Clobes has represented clients in all the firm’s major industry areas, including pharmaceuticals, airlines, insurance and financial services, telecommunications, technology, retailing and manufacturing. His recent practice has emphasized antitrust and consumer fraud and protection and he is currently serving as one of two Co-Lead Counsel in In re Insurance Brokerage Antitrust Litigation and In re Insurance Brokerage Employee Benefit Antitrust Litigation, which are related MDL proceedings currently pending in the District of New Jersey before Chief Judge Garrett Brown. Mr. Clobes is also currently representing plaintiffs in pending MDL matters including: Funeral Consumers Alliance, Inc. et al., v. Service Corporation International, et al. (S.D. Tex.), In re Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) (E.D. Pa.), In re Cotton Yarn Antitrust Litigation (M.D.N.C.), In re: Polyester Staple Antitrust Litigation, (W.D.N.C.), In re TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation (not yet assigned), and In re Publication Paper Antitrust Litigation (D. Conn.). Mr. Clobes led the firm’s high level efforts in many recent successful cases including: In re Visacheck and Mastermoney Antitrust Litigation (E.D.N.Y) ($3.2 billion settlement on behalf of national class of retailers and merchants); Nichols v. SmithKlineBeecham Corp. (E. D. Pa.) (consumer and third party payor settlement of $65 million); and In re Lupron Sales Practices Litigation (NJ, IL and AZ state court cases) (culminating in a national settlement providing hundreds of millions of dollars to Lupron consumers).

Mr. Clobes has attained the highest rating, “AV”, from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” in each of the past three years. During and after graduating from law school, Mr. Clobes clerked for Judges Arlin M. Adams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Mitchell H. Cohen of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and Joseph Kaplan of the Maryland Circuit Court in Baltimore. Prior to joining the firm, from 1989-1992, Mr. Clobes then served as Trial Counsel to the Commodities Futures Trading Commission in Washington, D.C. Mr. Clobes is admitted to practice in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and before a number of federal district and appellate courts.
Mr. Clobes has authored briefs filed with the Supreme Court in a number of ERISA cases, including Varity Corp. v. Howe and Schoonejongen v. Curtiss- Wright Corp. He also authored ‘In the Wake of Varity Corp. v. Howe: An Affirmative Duty to Disclose Under ERISA,’ DePaul Business Law Journal, vol. 9 (1997).

Mr. Clobes received his law degree in 1988 from Villanova University. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1984.
